Gutta-percha as a temporary filling material
Gutta-percha is the dried milky sap of the gutta-percha tree, which is mainly found on the Malay Peninsula, Java, Sumatra and Borneo. The material is similar to rubber, but has a much lower molar mass. The properties and advantages of gutta-percha are that it is relatively hard at room temperature, but becomes soft and malleable at around 50 ℃. Dentistry makes use of these advantages.
