After the root canal has been prepared and disinfected, rinsed and cleaned, it is dried with paper tips. Various tapers and thicknesses are available for this purpose. The different thicknesses are designed and color-coded according to the ISO standard and allow the dentist to easily select the appropriate size.
 
The tips are stiff and tightly rolled, yet still offer a high degree of flexibility. This means that even angled root tips can be reached up to the apex and dried or treated with medication.

The medication is inserted into the root canal for a limited period of time using the paper tip as a medication carrier and creates a bacteria-free environment.
